Free Electives A&Q

Q: What is the difference between Psychology electives and free electives?
A: Psychology electives have to be Psychology subjects (you can choose which Psych electives to do from the Course Structure). Free electives can be subjects from any department, including Psychology electives. I.E., you can take Psychology subjects to fulfil your free electives; you cannot take other department electives to fulfil your psychology electives.

Q: Are there any first year Psychology electives?
A: At this present time, there are none. As such, your free electives have to come from subjects from other departments.

Q: Can I take a second/third year elective in place of a first year elective, or a first year elective in place of a second/third year elective?
A: No. You can't replace an elective from a certain year with an elective from any other year.

Q: I am interested in taking a language subject (e.g., Italian) from ADP - can I do that as an elective?
A: No. Many ADP subjects are considered "Pre-U" level subjects and cannot be taken as electives under the Bachelor of Psychology degree. The easiest way of knowing whether a subject under ADP can be taken is according to the subject code. Pre-U level subject codes have two alphabets (e.g., PY101, MC101), and Degree level subject codes have three alphabets (e.g., MCH101, HAA102). Only take the degree-level subjects as free electives.
